The local fire chief is in charge of the fire brigade and coordinates daily events.
Local fire chiefs are appointed honorary civil servants for a period of six years. Their term of office ends at the latest at the end of the month in which they reach the age of 63. The municipal council decides on their appointment after hearing the district fire chief.
The person proposed as local fire chief is whoever receives the majority of the votes of those present in a meeting called for this purpose by members of the local fire brigade’s operations department.
